MISSIONS IS GIVING

John 3:16 – For God so love the world that He gave His one and only Son.

• Missions requires giving yourself in Christian living.

Matthew 5:16 – Let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:13 – You are the salt of the earth.

Ephesians 5:18 – Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery, instead be filled with the Holy Spirit.

• Missions is giving a personal witness.

Mark 1:17 – Come, follow me, Jesus said, and I will make you fishers of men.

• Missions is giving our life.

Matthew 16:24 – If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.

Luke 10:41 – Mary has chosen what is better.

Matthew 28:19 – Therefore go and make disciples of all nations.

The Benefit Of Giving

Luke 6:38 – Jesus said, give and it will be given to you, for with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.

• Giving makes us more like God.
• Giving draws us closer to God.

Matthew 6:21 – For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

• Giving gives me victory over materialism.
• Giving strengthens my faith.

Proverbs 3:5-9 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, honor the Lord by giving Him the first part of all your income and He will fill your barns to over-flowing.

• Giving is an investment for eternity.

Jesus said, store up your treasures in heaven.

2 Corinthians 8:5 – They first gave themselves to the Lord.

Building A Life Of Gratitude

Verse 1 – I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

WE PRAISE GOD:

1. Because of His deliverment.

Verse 2 – I will boast of all His kindness.

Verse 6 – Saved Him out of all his troubles.

Moses said – Who is like unto Thee

Mary said – My soul praises the Lord

Zachariah said – Praise be to the Lord God of Israel

2. Because discouragement is broken.

Verse 2 – All who are discouraged.

David said – I will Praise the Lord no matter what happens.

Acts 16 – Paul said Silas had a Spirit of Praise.

3. Because of a directed life style.

Verse 3 – Let us Praise and exalt His name together.

4. Because of determined Faith for the future.

Luke 17:11-19

FOUR TRUTHS ABOUT GRATEFULNESS FROM LUKE 17

1. It’s easy to forget about God during the good times. (v. 17)

2. God blesses the grateful and the ungrateful alike. (v. 14)

3. It matters to Jesus whether or not I say Thank You. (vv.17-18)

4. Grateful words reflect greater faith. (v. 19)

FOUR STEPS TO DEVELOPING AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE

1. PRAISE God first thing in the morning

Psalm 59:16 ““But as for me, I will sing about your power. I will shout with joy each morning because of your unfailing love.”

2. REMOVE all complaints from my life.

Memory Verse: “In everything you do, stay away from complaining and arguing.” Philippians 2:14

3. SAY thank you to those who bless me. 

Luke 17:15-16 ““One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, "Praise God, I'm healed!" fell face down on the ground at Jesus' feet, thanking him for what he had done.”

4. ENJOY today as if I were on vacation

Ecclesiastes 3:22 “There is nothing better for people than to be happy in their work. That is why they are here! No one will bring them back from death to enjoy life in the future.”

Psalm 100 (A Psalm of Thanksgiving) Shout with joy to the LORD, O earth! Worship the LORD with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy. that the LORD is God! He made us, and we are his. We are his people, the sheep of his pasture. his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and bless his name. For the LORD is good. THREE TRUTHS ABOUT MY WORDS

Truth #1: Words are a Gift from God

Truth #2: Words can build up or tear down

Truth #3: The quality of my life is determined by the quality of my words

HOW TO HARNESS THE P.O.W.E.R. OF MY WORDS

1. PRACTICE STARTING MY DAY WITH PRAISE.

Psalm 145:2 “I will praise you every day; yes, I will praise you forever” 

2. OFFER WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO OTHERS DAILY.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 “So speak encouraging words to one another” 

3. WORK TO REMOVE ALL CURSE WORDS FROM MY SPEECH.

James 3:8-10 “[The tongue] is restless and evil, full of deadly poison. Sometimes it praises our Lord and Father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. And so blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth . . . this is not right!” 

4. EXERCISE LISTENING TWICE AS MUCH  AS I SPEAK.

Proverbs 12:15 “Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others.”

5. RELEASE MY WHOLE LIFE TO GOD.

Matthew 15:11 (Jesus) “But the words you speak come from the heart – that’s what defiles you.”

Romans 6:13 “Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.”

GOD’S INTENTION FOR FATHERS - LEAVE A LEGACY

Proverbs 13:22 - A good life gets passed on to the grandchildren.
Psalm 112:6 - A righteous man will be remembered forever.

1. SPEAK with integrity.

Proverbs 17:7 - Respected people do not tell lies.

Proverbs 25:14 - People who promise things they never give are like clouds and wind that bring no rain.

Psalm 101:2 - I will try to walk a blameless path, but how I need Your help, especially in my own home, where I long to act as I should.

2. SERVE with intensity.

Proverbs 14:22 - You will earn the trust and respect of others if you work for good.

Colossians 3:23 - Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.

John 6:27 - Don’t work for food that spoils, instead,work for the food that lasts for eternal life.

Psalm 37:18 - Day by day the Lord observes the good deeds done by godly men, and gives them eternal rewards.

3. GIVE with generosity.

2 Corinthians. 9:9 - Godly people give generously. Their good deeds will never be forgotten.

Psalm 112:9 - He who gives generously to the needy and shows kindness will be powerful and respected.

Proverbs 11:25 - A generous man will prosper, he who refreshed others will himself be refreshed.

Proverbs 3:27-28 - Whenever you are able, do good to people who need help. Don’t say “Come back later. I’ll give it to you tomorrow.”


4. SUCCEED with humility.

Proverbs 29:23 - Arrogance will bring your downfall, but if you are humble, you will be respected.

Proverbs 27:21 - Praise is the test of character.

Proverbs 13:18 - Someone who will not learn will be poor and disgraced. Anyone who listens to correction is respected.

Proverbs 13:7 - A pretentious, showy life is an empty life, a plain and simple life is a full life.

Proverbs 15:33 - Humility and reverence for the Lord will make you both wise and honored.
