February 26 2017 Getting A Grip On Power

Getting A Grip On Power

Job 6:10 – At least I can take comfort in this, despite the pain. I have not denied the words of the Holy One.

1 Corinthians 4:20 – The Kingdom of God is not just fancy talk. It is living by God’s power.

Psalm 68:35 – God is awesome, He gives power and strength to His people.

WHEN TO EXPECT GOD’S POWER

1. When I’m tired.

Isaiah 40:28 & 31 – The Lord is the everlasting God. He never grows tired or weary. He strengthens those who are weak and tired. Those who trust the Lord for help will find their strength renewed. He gives power to those who are tired and worn out, He offers strength to the weak.

2. When I’ve nothing to offer.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 – My power shows up best in weak people. Now I am glad to boast about how weak I am, I am glad to be a living demonstration of Christ’s power, instead of showing off my own powers and abilities.

3. When I’m in pain.

Psalm 41:3 – The Lord nurses them when they are sick and eases their pain.

4. When I’m tempted.

Romans 7:18 – I often find that I have the will to do good, but no power.

2 Corinthians 10:13 – Every temptation that has come your way is the kind that normally comes to people. But god keeps His promise, and He will not allow you to be tempted beyond your power to resist, at the time you are tempted, He will give you strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out.

Philippians 4:13 – I have the strength to face all conditions by the power that Christ gives me.

HOW TO BUILD CONFIDENCE IN GOD’S POWER

1. Admit your need for help.

Proverbs 29:23 – Pride ends in humiliation, while humility brings honor.

2. Get connected.

John 15:5 – I am the vine and you are the branches. Those who remain in Me and I in them, will produce much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

2 Timothy 1:7 – For the Spirit that God gives us does not make us timid. Instead His Spirit fills us with power.

3. Choose God’s way with faith that God’s power will show up.

Hebrews 11:1 – What is faith? It is the confident assurance that what we hope for is going to happen.

Isaiah 40:31 – Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary.

Romans 8:17 – And since we are His children, we will share His treasure. For everything God gives to His Son, Christ, is ours too.

PREVAILING THROUGH A VISION

Acts 26:19

Verse 19 – So then King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven.

Five Facts About A Vision:

I. Gods vision will stop you.

Ver. 12-15 – We all fell to the ground and I heard a voice saying to me, Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?

A vision caused Paul to:

1. See himself.

2. See your possibilities.

II. God’s vision will send us.

Ver. 16-18 – Now get up and stand on your feet.

A vision helps us to see others.

III. God’s vision will strengthen us.

Ver. 20-23 – But I have had God’s help to this very day.

When you focus on God’s vision, it produces: power and strength.

IV. God’s vision will stretch us.

Ver. 24-29

This vision gave Paul:

1. Conviction to stand. (verse 26)

2. Conviction to speak. (verse 27)

3. Compassion to show. (verse 29)

V. God’s vision will satisfy us.

Ver. 19 – I was not disobedient to the vision from Heaven.

Who is the happiest person in the world?

People who have a vision.

Remember, when there is no faith in the future, there is no power in the present.

June 12 2016 Living With God As Father

The Apostle's Creed: "I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen."

Mark 14:36 (NIV) “And Jesus prayed, ‘Abba, Father...’”

Matthew 6:9 (NIV) “This, then, is how your should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven...’”

WITH GOD AS MY HEAVENLY FATHER...

1. I HAVE LOVE THAT IS UNCONDITIONAL .

Romans 8:38-39 (TLB) “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can't, and life can't. The angels can't, and the demons can't. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of

God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

1 John 4:10 (NLT)“This is real love. It is not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.”

2. I HAVE STRENGTH/POWER THAT IS UNLIMITED .

MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 46:1 (ESV) “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.”

Ephesians 3:16 (NLT) “I pray that from His glorious, unlimited resources He will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit.”

2 Corinthians 12:9 (Msg) “And then he told me, ‘My grace is enough; it's all you need. My strength comes into its own in your weakness.’ Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift.”

3. I HAVE DELIGHT THAT IS UNENDING .

Psalm 16:11 (NLT)“You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.”

Psalm 147:11 (NLT) “The Lord's delight is in those who honor him, those who put their hope in his unfailing love.”

Luke 10:20 (NLT) “Don't rejoice just because spirits obey you; rejoice because your names are registered as citizens of heaven.”

Born: CREATION OF GOD

Born Again: CHILD OF GOD

Romans 8:15 (NLT) “So you should not be like cowering, fearful slaves. You should behave instead like God's very own children, adopted into his family—calling him ‘Abba, Father.’”

July 10 2011 Living The Effective Life

Living The Effective Life

Four Keys to Effective Living:

1. Be yourself.

Hebrews 11:24 – By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh's daughter.

2. Accept responsibility for your life.

Verse 25 – He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God, rather than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a short time.

PRINCIPLE: The negative is followed by the positive

Verse 23 – By faith Moses' parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the King's edict.
Verse 24 – When he had grown up.

3. Establish a value system for your life.

Verse 26 – He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt because he was looking ahead to his reward.

THREE COMMON VALUES
* Pleasure
* Possessions
* Power

Matthew 6:24 – No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both.

THREE THINGS MOSES DECIDED:

God's purpose is more valuable than popularity.

Verse 24 – refused to be known as Pharaoh's daughter.

People are more valuable than pleasure.

Verse 25 – chose to be mistreated rather than enjoy the pleasures of sin.

God's peace is more valuable than possessions.

Verse 26 – regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt.

Your character is determined by your choices, your choices are determined by your values and your values are determined by your vision.

4. Never take your eyes off the goal.

Verse 27 – By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the King's anger, he persevered because he saw Him who is invisible.

II Corinthians 4:16-17 – Therefore, we do not lose heart though outwardly, we're wasting away yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory, that far outweighs them all.

Verse 18 – So we fix our eyes not on what is seen but what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Hebrews 12:1-2 – Since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us fix our eyes on Jesus, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross.

... as we forgive our debtors.

PRAYING THE LORD'S MODEL PRAYER

I can't say "OUR FATHER" unless I've been born again into God's family. (John 1: 12)

I can't say "HALLOWED BE YOUR NAME" unless Christ has first priority in my own life.

I can't say "YOUR WILL BE DONE ON EARTH" unless I am committed to doing his will all the time.

I can't say "GIVIE US TODAY OUR DAILY BREAD" without a willingness to share it with those in need around the world.

I can't say "FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS" if I am holding onto an unforgiving attitude toward others.

I can't say "LEAD US NOT INTO TENDTATION" if I continue to expose myself to compromising situations.

I can't say "DELIVER US FROM EVIL" unless I really desire to walk with integrity and purity.
